It is not often that soldiers who are recovering from injuries sustained while in their tour of duty get to have the red carpet rolled out for them. That was the case this weekend, however, at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas.

Billionaire Sheldon Adelson, who runs the Las Vegas Sands Corp. paid for a few dozen soldiers to be flown from National Naval Medical Center in Maryland, and Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, to the Venetian.

The soldiers were greeted at the airport by Wayne Newton, and that was just the beginning of the perks they would receive on this trip. It was also arranged for them to hang out backstage with the Blue Man Group.

One of the injured soldiers even used the trip to get married. Kyle Riley and his fiance were treated to Adelson insisting that their entire wedding plans be made by the staff at the Venetian.

"The trip was a way for the soldiers to get away from everyday life in the hospitals. "I’m gonna be bragging about this for a long time," said Jimmy Kinsley. He was one of the soldiers brought on the trip. All the soldiers on the trip were treated like high rollers, and were given penthouses to stay in.

The trip was planned between Adelson and the Armed Forces Foundation. The Foundation claims that this was only the first of many trips that will be planned. Doug Stone, spokesman for the foundation, also claimed that Adelson wants every soldier admitted at the two hospitals to eventually be able to make the all expense paid trip.
