SkyCity Casino in New Zealand has seen their revenue decrease since the downfall of Tourism Waikito. The group was responsible for bringing in people from around the world, and having not been replaced has hurt tourism in the Waikito region.

The manager of SkyCity, Arthur Pitcher, believes the loss of Tourism Waikito has had a big effect, and he has decided the casino will be the leader in trying to get a new tourism group.

"We want to show that we are keen for it to happen and that we will put our money where our mouth is," said Pitcher. He is hoping that others will follow his lead and also donate money to the cause.

SkyCity has pledged to give $50,000 to get the new organization started. They have not decided how long they will donate the money, but for now it will be at least the first couple of years the organization is around.

Now that they have come forward, other groups are joining their mission. The Business Development Center, Hamilton City Council, the Waikito Chamber of Commerce, and Hamilton International Airport are all discussing the options for the new tourism organization.
