The online bingo industry is still expanding at a fast rate - despite the current economic climate - as more and more players are continuing to play online. BingoPort, the bingo information website, have recently reported that in the past six months the number of online bingo players has grown by a massive 80 percent.
BingoPort have been monitoring player numbers over the past year and a half using different measures such as tracking the amount of players playing in a bingo room online at any given moment. The group also measured how promotions and marketing campaigns affected player numbers.
The statistics reveal an 80 percent increase in the number of online bingo players between the beginning of May and the end of October this year. This may be surprising to some people as the country is now in recession but it seems, so far, that the old saying that gambling is recession-proof certainly appears to be the case so far with online bingo. As there is less money around it appears more people are spending their money on gambling. The rise may also be attributed to more people going online anyway and the fact that smoking is now banned in bingo halls.
Many online bingo sites have generous promotions which is particularly true around Christmas time. One such website, Foxy Bingo are offering one lucky bingo player the chance to win a luxury Christmas hamper together with some great Christmas presents such as a widescreen TV and a built-in DVD player. Many bingo sites including Foxy Bingo have also run promotions at the time of the credit crunch whereby players can get part of their monthly household bills paid for. Which has been extremely useful considering the recent price rises in utility bills.
Scott Logan of BingoPort.co.uk said, “We have been tracking the UK online bingo industry for over 18 months now and we are starting to see some fascinating and positive trends coming through. We are of course watching the UK and global financial crisis closely, but our data suggests active online bingo player numbers should continue to rise in the foreseeable future.”
